NOTE: No session on 18 February

Our Forest School sessions encourage children to explore their natural curiosity through facilitated activities and self-directed play and learning. We run these sessions as a term to allow children to build deeper relationships with nature, with one another and with themselves, on their own terms. They are able to do this through regular participation with the same group of children, in the same space each week. Therefore, we expect families to commit to attending the full term, to arrive to the sessions on time and to stay for the duration of the session.

This project is funded by the Mayor of London, Green Roots Fund.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Learn about our group's ethos and what to expect from our sessions by reading our ground rules.

  • The group will gather in the forest and settle in together from 10am.

  • By 10:30am we will get together for circle time which might include sharing how we're feeling, what we'd like to do, what we enjoyed the previous week, singing a song together and/or discussing our topic for the day.

  • The session will flow freely between facilitated activities and child-led play and learning. Different stations will be set up such as ropes and a mud kitchen.

  • We will gather again for a children’s story and snack time and parent’s circle.

LOCATION

Meet at Will Thorne Pavilion Car Park for the first session of the term.
